(A) Active stage - Bilateral disruption of the outer retinal and ellipsoid zone, with hyperreflectivity of outer retinal layers and retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), and bilateral increase in choroidal thickness. (B) Inactive stage - Resolution of the placoid lesions with disappearance of the hyperreflectivity of the outer retina, resulting in either partial restoration of its appearance or focal areas of photoreceptors/RPE atrophy; bilateral normalization of choroidal thickness
